Annotation
The article deals with the issues of sustainable development as the only possible way to solve global problems of mankind. It is shown that an important driving force
of development and achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals is education, which is both a goal and a tool capable of transforming people’s lives. The subject of this study is education for sustainable development. The purpose of the article is to present an example of an institutional educational model, the realization of which will help lay the foundation for the formation and development of environmental consciousness in society, which in turn is the basis of environmental culture. The project approach in educational work with schoolchildren is proposed as the main methodological approach. It is substantiated that the institute of educational activities is able to make a significant contribution to the formation of environmental culture, especially when it comes to educational activities among children and youth. The practical significance of the developed model lies in the possibility of its application in institutions of basic general, secondary general and additional school education.
The results of the study contribute to the further development of the theory and practice of implementing the concept of sustainable development.
