ANALYSIS OF THE FLOWS OF FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT IN THE ECONOMY OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION AND THE ASSESSMENT OF THEIR UNEVENNESS

Foreign direct investment is traditionally regarded as one of the key factors of economic development, although it poses a danger to the independence of the management of the national economy. As a recipient of foreign direct investment, Russia is characterized by the unevenness of their receipt, which creates conditions for further differentiation of socio-economic development. In addition, as the current geopolitical situation has shown, such a regional concentration of foreign investment, in addition to the widely known possible negative effects, has very serious consequences for the recipient leaders themselves when investors withdraw from agreements for political reasons. Therefore, there is an obvious need to attract real investors who are guided solely by economic interests, and not by political motives. In the context of uneven investment flows in the regional context, this actualizes the issue of the influence of the investment climate of the regions on its level. In this regard, the article is devoted to the study of incoming foreign direct investment in the Russian economy, incl. indicators of receipts, withdrawals, balance of flows, assessment of their unevenness across federal districts and within them, as well as the search for the relationship between the inflow of investments into the regions and their investment attractiveness.
