Annotation
The evolution of the economy since the middle of the 20th century has marked a new stage in the use of the latest scientific and technological advances in production,
and the formation and development of human capital has become a key task of social progress. The higher education sector plays a special role in this matter, fulfilling
the function of providing human resources capacity of the country. Financing of this sector is critically important to maintain its effective functioning. Insufficient financial support leads to a number of negative consequences, which ultimately negatively affect the quality of education. The article outlines the problem of finding and attracting alternative resources for supporting higher education in Russia. The use of endowment funds as an additional tool for financing higher education is justified.
