Annotation

The article discusses the trends in the design and comprehensive improvement of the street and road network in the city and conducts a comparative analysis of their development in modern conditions. In the current conditions of dense development, it is especially important to effectively use the free territory of the road network in terms of improving the comfort and safety of the urban environment as a whole. Domestic legal acts and technical literature consider city streets only as parts of the transport and communication framework, not taking into account the possibility of mixed use of territories, which would contribute to the development of multifunctional streets. To date, the space of the street and road network is used inefficiently
